   The cross is controlled by the circle = the higher overcomes the lower. The result is SUBMISSION, DEVOTION, LOVE.

 In the 13^th Chapter of Paul’s First Epistle to the Corinthians we find a eulogy of love:

   “LOVE suffereth long and is kind, LOVE vaunteth not herself, is not puffed up, believeth all things, endureth all things… Whether there be prophecies they shall fail, whether there be knowledge it shall vanish away.” He concludes that in time FAITH and HOPE will pass away, because we shall know the things, in which we now have faith and our hopes will have been realized, but LOVE, he contends, remain forever. “VENUS vaunteth not herself, is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, rejoices not iniquity, but in truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, endureth all things.”

   These sayings are all true, when applied to VENUS for she furnishes the unifying bond between all members of the human family in whatever relationship they may be placed. It is the “love-ray” of VENUS piercing deeply the heart of the mother, which breeds in her the tender care, wherewith she nourishes her offspring through helpless infancy.

   VENUS sounds the LOVE call of the youth and the maiden, gives and takes, smoothing out all the difficulties in the conjugal career. She is ever burning incense upon the altar of affection and from her garden of LOVE, comes the flowers which scent even the most sordid souls, with celestial perfume and raise them, for the time being to the stature of gods.

   Being feminine VENUS never reaches out toward others, but exerts a magnetic energy, which draws them to her. But when VENUS is afflicted, all these sublime qualities become tainted and take hideous aspect according to the nature of their affliction...

ARCHETYPE AND MYTHOLOGY:

HATHOR, MYLITTA, ALILAT, MYTRA, ARGYMPASA, ASTARTE, AMOR, EROS, VENUS, APHRODITE, FREYA, Archangel ANAEL.

   The Greek Aphrodite is, as expected, one of the oldest deities (If we look away from the ancient Earth/Sun/Moon cult) and the first deity with a specific sphere of influence. It gives women an ageless age along with all the magical remedies like aphrodisiacs, which is a common theme of sorcery.

   Venus is a solar deity. As the goddess of love, she has - appropriate to the Greek scene - various forms: Agape is pure, soul devotion, love of God; Philia denotes the affection of friends; Eros refers to the attraction of the sexes; Urania personifies ideal, platonic affection; Genetrix, marital harmony; and Porne, sensual pleasure.

   When APHRODITE, born from foam (see URANUS story), emerged from the sea, she, as the capricious lady VENUS (already as the Egyptian HATHOR), caused confusion both among equals and among men. Already - and especially - as Aphrodite she had many other love relationships with the heavenly gods besides her love affair with Ares, only Hermes was denied this role from wife of the god of blacksmithing, Hephaestus. Little Zeus' son suffered so much rejection, that the understanding ruler of Olympus sent his eagle to steal her sandal - from its return, Hermaphroditus was born.

   Aphrodite could treat mortals pretty badly. On Cyprus, her island of love, a maiden gloried in her beauty beyond that of a goddess. Aphrodite persuaded the young maiden to be brought to a different state by her own father. The offspring of this unholy union, Adonis, tried to bring Aphrodite to bed himself, but Persephone (the only daughter of Zeus and Demeter) intervened. They both failed: the handsome youth was killed by a boar. Also fatal is the verdict of Parides, who awarded Aphrodite the apple for the most beauty: in the following Trojan War many heroes bled to death, but she managed to protect her son Aeneas and escort him safely back to his homeland, Italy.

   ...In her early days, Venus as goddess of spring was also responsible for the fertility of the fields, until she succeeded in moving these earthy female areas first to Demeter, then in Rome to Ceres. There, however, her cult retained great importance because Venus was considered the grandmother of Aeneas' son Ascanius Iulus, the great grandfather of the family of Julius (Caesar, Augustus).

   It is called Mylitta by the Assyrians, Alilat by the Arabs, Mitra by the Persians, and Argimpasa by the Scythians. In the Middle East, like Astarte, she was given elements of love and war.

   The term "goddess of love" alone does not adequately describe her. Aside from the lunar part of the ruling duo, she was the only female figure, in the male zodiac to successfully conceal what was entrusted to her, unless it was in the power of the lunar goddess and brazenly taken up by Hermes/Mercury. Aphrodite thus embodies, on the one hand a woman, who can handle herself (As a man) and diplomatically controls her life perfectly (In Libra), as well as on the other hand a woman who wants to enjoy life and promotes beauty, art and guidance (In Taurus). Only when Venus creates a relaxed atmosphere does she indulge in the pleasures of Erot, never losing her head in the process. She herself, not the timidly affable lunar goddess, is the bearer of the hope that the feminine element can regain prestige, equality and a (solar) future.

   In the archetype, Venus appears as a strong naked woman - this is how she is depicted in ancient paintings and statues, but also in modern paintings, as can be seen today.

   Venus was meant to incite animals to fight and to mate, and was more a goddess of pleasure, of sensual excitement, than a goddess of spiritual love. And so it provoked hatred and passionate satisfaction, that is, self-forgetfulness, because in hatred, one forgets oneself, as in the case of murderous love. Whether a man falls into the whirlpool of love, or is seized by anger, he is always outside himself, outside his centre. Venus tempts him to this.

   Venus is spoken of as a “small blessing”. In mythology, however, it is often Venus who suddenly triggers a conflict that requires the deployment of Mars, the god of war.

   Venus must therefore be treated with caution in interpretation, just as she was treated with care on Olympus in the myths, because beauty, love, feeling can degenerate into a mere desire for pleasure, as in the myth in which Venus is the wife of the dishonoured Vulcan. In a bad aspect, Venus may even act violently, or even encourage it. This then manifests itself in the cold virtue of the artist or courtesan. Whoever talks about a “small blessing” with Venus should at least think about its short-term nature.

    Venus and the [Fourth HEARTH chakra], with which this planet astrologically corresponds, represents the ability to give and receive love. The frequency of Venus' orbit opens the fourth chakra and drives away self-centredness, self-pity and egoism. With the frequency of Venus, we recognize that there are other, more subtle and spiritual things in the world than just those we can pick up with our physical senses. In addition, astrologically, Venus is the ruler of feelings of beauty, love, sexuality, sensuality and harmony.
   Venus is the closest planet to the Earth, the morning and evening star, and the brightest object in the sky from a human perspective. Its distance from the Sun, around which it orbits in the opposite direction, is approximately 108 million kilometres. As a result of its "wandering" around the Sun (in a grinding manner with stops and reversals from Earth's perspective), it appears as "Evening star" (Hesperus) or "Morning star" (Phosphorus).

   The name Venus is Roman, but the Romans adopted this deity from Greek mythology as Aphrodite (see page 2 and 3). It is noteworthy that Aphrodite was not the name of Evening(Hesperus) or Morning(Phosphorus) star. If we translate the name Phosphorus, then it means Lucifer, which is light (see Pluto story). With him comes the new day, bringing the light of the sun. It also points to the lord of the underworld, hell, from which the sun rises, and the lord of hell was none other than the fallen angel Lucifer.

   People of ancient times were most excited by the brightness of this "star". The main reason was that it was always associated with the crescent moon, because whenever Venus and the moon met, the moon was crescent-shaped. It was either a dying crescent or a rising crescent. The dying crescent moon can only be seen in the morning, before the beginning of the day, shortly before the new moon in the West, that is, when Venus is "Phosphorus". The rising crescent, on the other hand, can be detected only in the evening in the East, shortly after the new moon, when Venus rises as "Hesperus".

   As "Phosphorus", Venus symbolizes the skilful mastery of life, combativeness, development, and practice in renunciation. Venus here does not regret any sacrifices and will stand up to anything. It even goes so far that "Phosphorus", the goddess of the morning, is often gifted with a man attributes: weapons, wild animals such as vultures and falcons. The history of art and culture amply records this fact. A woman with the courage of a lion, with civilian bravery, we would say today.

   Venus as "Hesperus" is to be interpreted quite differently. It is a symbol of devotion, of the musical and artistic sphere, of seductive love, tending towards pleasure. Sex plays a decisive role here: the young woman, who can also be seen in terms of character, is the one who seeks connection in all circumstances. That is why this Venus was also attached to Libra, while "Phosphorus" belongs to Taurus.

 “She stands on a large scallop shell, a demure and gentle smile playing on her lips. Slowly she alights onto a beach on Cyprus. Where she steps, flowers bloom and clouds of butterflies arise. Around her head birds fly in circles, singing in ecstasies of joy. Perfect love and beauty has made her landfall and the world will never be the same!”
